Basin Trip for Members (Adults)
Lake Region Electric will not be taking a member tour to Basin the summer of 2022.
An Inside Look at Electric Generation
Each summer, Lake Region Electric sponsors a membership tour to Basin Electric Cooperative's Antelope Valley Station in North Dakota.
The tour, is open to member/consumers of Lake Region Electric.
Antelope Valley Station, a lignite-fired electric generation station northwest of Beulah, North Dakota, is one of five plants supplying electricity to Basin Electric Cooperative, Inc.
Basin Electric, headquartered in Bismarck, North Dakota, operates with a total capacity of 5,199 megawatts of electricity. Basin's plants, among the cleanest coal-burning plants in the nation, serve 131 rural electric member cooperative systems that in turn serve approximately 3 million consumers in the nine states of North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Minnesota, Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado and New Mexico.
In addition to the generation plant tour, the group will tour The Freedom Mine. The mine, adjacent to the Antelope Valley Station, supplies lignite to the plant. The Freedom Mine is one of the 10 largest coal mines in the United States.
Lake Region Electric has been offering an inside look of the production of electricity for several years, by giving members/consumers an opportunity to participate in the tour.
Lake Region Electric provides transportation via coach charter bus, all meals and overnight accommodations (double occupancy) for one night and a riverboat excursion.
Free time may be spent visiting with other cooperative members, lounging by the indoor pool, shopping or visiting area attractions.
Reservations are limited and on a first come first served basis. Register today to be assured a space for this exciting opportunity. There is a $25.00 fee per couple participating in the Tour.
