Waubay High School Senior Caleb Weyh has been honored with Touchstone Energy’s Scholar of The Week March 24 - 30, 2024. The Scholar of the Week program is a partnership between Dakota News Now and your local Touchstone Energy Cooperatives that honors the region’s accomplished high school students. Caleb received $250 from Lake Region Electric and was featured on Dakota News Now during the 6:00PM news on Monday, March 25 and again on the Dakota News Now morning news on Tuesday, March 26 between 6:00AM and 7:00AM. “I am thankful for the opportunity to be considered for this scholarship.” says Caleb.
Caleb is a well-rounded young man who has what it takes to be Scholar of The Week. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council President. He is an ambitious young man, participating in many activities while maintaining a high GPA and taking dual-credit classes. Caleb not only lives and works on his parent’s farm, but he is also very involved in FFA, showing cattle nationally and judging livestock. Caleb plans to continue his education at SDSU where he will pursue a degree in animal science. He had considered a couple of other schools further away, but in the end decided that SDSU has an excellent program that will fit his needs. This choice also made his dad happy because Caleb would be close enough to return home to help with calving and other chores. Caleb credit’s his mother for much of his ambition and success, “The person who has influenced me most is my mother, because she has served as both my mother and a teacher in my academic career.” Caleb is the son of Curtis and Cindy Weyh.
